Breast augmentation can be achieved by placing breast prostheses, which involves placing breast implants in the breasts to restore volume and redesign them. At the same time, it is possible to correct asymmetry or sagging breasts, which gives a youthful result.
Breast implants are differentiated by:
- Their shape: round or anatomical (pear or teardrop shape);
- Their shell: smooth, textured or in polyurethane foam;
- Their content: in silicone gel, physiological serum or light silicone (B-lite);
- Their volume: variable according to the desired result and the body of the patient.
They can be placed in front of or behind the pectoral muscle, as well as by performing a combination of these two layers (Dual Layers). The procedure can be performed with an incision under the breast (sub-mammary), around the lower edge of the areola or in the armpit.
Each choice of implant, location, and scar has its advantages and disadvantages. All these different options will be explained to you by Dr Alain Gagnon, who will help you chose the best option according to your wishes, your health and your anatomy.
